Together, we want to build a greener, fairer and more sustainable Skåne. Here are the Green Party’s priorities for Region Skåne.
Cheaper public transport
Whether you live in a city or in the countryside, public transport should be affordable, reliable and easy to use. That is why the Green Party wants to make major investments in Skånetrafiken, with lower ticket prices, more departures and better rail services across Skåne.
We want to:
- Lower ticket prices. We want to significantly reduce fares and introduce better discounts on Skånetrafiken tickets.
- Halve the price of train tickets across the Öresund Bridge. Today, it can be cheaper to travel by train from Malmö to Oslo than to nearby Copenhagen. We think that is unreasonable. That is why we want to cut the price of train tickets across the Öresund Bridge by 50%.
- Increase services. We want to reverse the cuts made to public transport in recent years. Instead, we want more bus departures, new double-decker trains and new rail services between Helsingborg and Höganäs, Malmö and Staffanstorp, and Malmö and Näset.
- Reduce travel times. By expanding and modernising Skåne’s railway network, we can improve punctuality and make journeys faster.
Shorter waiting times in healthcare
Waiting times in healthcare are far too long. Many healthcare professionals are under immense pressure, while hospitals have been forced to make major cuts. It is time to end the chronic underfunding of healthcare, reduce waiting times and ensure that everyone receives the care they need, when they need it.
We want to:
- Invest in healthcare staff. We want to make a major investment in Region Skåne’s workforce through higher wages, less overtime, more colleagues, better schedules and guaranteed time for rest and recovery.
- Strengthen psychiatric care. Mental health must be treated with the same urgency as physical health. We want to invest an additional SEK 500 million in psychiatric care in Region Skåne. No child should have to wait for support from Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP). We also want every health centre to have at least one psychologist.
- Make dental care more affordable. We want dental care to be covered by Sweden’s high-cost protection scheme, so that no one has to pay more than SEK 1,450 per year for dental treatment.
- Provide equal healthcare for everyone. We want to give higher priority to women’s healthcare through major investments in women’s health and maternity care. Care for pregnancy and birth injuries must improve, and LGBTQIA+ people should always receive respectful, equal and high-quality healthcare.
A bold climate policy
Climate change affects us all. The Green Party is committed to ambitious climate and environmental policies that reduce emissions while making everyday life easier for people across Skåne.
We want to:
- Reduce emissions. We want Region Skåne to cut its greenhouse gas emissions, adopt more ambitious climate targets and end subsidies for regional airports.
- Lower electricity prices. Offshore wind power is the fastest way to increase electricity production, according to the energy industry itself. That is why we want to expand offshore wind power and say no to new nuclear power plants in Skåne.
- Protect nature from mining. Skåne’s natural environment is one of our greatest assets. We want to create more protected areas on land and at sea, stop the proposed mining projects in Österlen and central Skåne, and introduce a complete ban on mining in alum shale.
